The Gloster Meteor was the first Allied jet aircraft. Developed between 1940 and 1943, the Gloster Meteor was the first allied airplane equipped with turbojet engines. Its somewhat bulky exterior gave him the nickname “The Meatbox” but it turned out to be a great plane to fight combats and leading when it came to breaking air speed records.
